Hello,
I am a retired technologist… except that technology types never really retire, they just tinker closer to home.
My last corporate job was as the Chief of Technology of a cable shopping network. I did a number of things while I was there to make lots of money for the company, and comfortable living for my family. One of the things I did was to convince them (in 1993) that this Internet thing would be big one day. The stealth program I started within the company now does over a billion dollars of sales online.
But I am a technical guy and I seem to be great in the background, but never the front man.
I'm not going back to a cubicle any time soon, and I do believe in the power of community, so this, Marc, seems to be my best and next opportunity to come knocking.
If I have a shortcoming, and I have to deal with this on an ongoing basis, is my short attention span for ideas, especially my own. That can be a problem, but like I have seen in others, it can be dealt with.
Looking forward to this slice of the future.
George
